Two held with fake currency notes in Kottayam

Sunday, December 18, 2011: Two inter-state labourers have been arrested and counterfeit currency notes for Rs 2,75,000 seized from them during raids conducted on lodges by the city police near Karukachal here on Sunday.
The arrested persons are natives of Bengal, police told. It is believed that the accused, who are natives of Bengal, have link with the fake currency mafia and other terrorist groups.
Counterfeit currencies in the denominations of Rs 1,000, 500 and 100 were seized from those taken into custody. The racket was busted on a tip-off by a stationery mart owner that two Bengalis had tried to pass one 500 rupee note as payment for a purchase in the evening.
