Tuesday, December 06, 2011: UDF convener PP Thankachan today informed that the leadership would hold introspection into the hunger strike staged by Kerala Ministers P.J Joseph and K.M Mani over the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

Speaking to the reporters here on Tuesday, UDF leader also condemned the agitation staged by Youth Congress activists against the Tamil Nadu’s adamant stand on the issue which has seen Kerala and TN at loggerheads.
Kerala has been demanding a new dam, saying the existing one has been rendered weak by frequent earthquakes. Tamil Nadu want Prime Minister must stop Kerala from creating panic. Kerala want that height of the dam should be reduced from 132 feet to 120 feet but Tamil Nadu says increase the height of dam from 132 feet to 142 feet. Both states want Centre to intervene.
