KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed an appeal challenging a Single Bench order which refused to stay the newly promulgated Kerala University (Amendment) ordinance.
A Division Bench comprising Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and Justice P S Gopinathan passed the order while considering an appeal filed by G Rajeev, Associate Professor, University College, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Single Judge, on Monday, had refused to pass interim orders on Rajeev’s petition.
Dismissing the appeal the Division Bench directed the petitioner to move the Single Bench. The petitioner challenged the new ordinance dislodging the existing members of the Senate of Kerala University.
The petitioner alleged that state government’s move to implement the new ordinance was politically motivated.
