Wednesday, June 22, 2011: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today defended the decision to grant no-objection certificates (NOC) for new CBSE schools.
Briefing the mediapersons after the cabinet meeting, Chandy said that government will not take any steps that will adversely affect the public education sector. He added that NOC will be granted as per rules and regulations.
Contrary to the stand taken by the Advocate General who stated that the state has no role in the issues pertaining to Justice Muhammad committee, Chandy said that the Muhammad Committee belong to the government.
He said that the committee is of the government, so the government would have control over the same. On CBI probe on lottery issue, Chandy said, then CM VS Achuthanandan did nothing on the issue and the self-financing issue worsened due to the LDF government.
