The accused have been identified as natives of Coimbatore and Pathanapuram, Crime branch team told.

July 10, 2011: As many as 55 persons have been taken into custody in connection with the Paravur case, in which a minor girl was sexually exploited by many including her father, by promising roles in films.

Identification parade of accused was held in the case in the presence of Perumbavur judicial magistrate on Friday. CBI officials informed that the girl (victim) had identified eight persons who are accused in the case.

A 70-year-old retired naval official has been arrested recently in connection with the case, police said on Saturday.

A young businessman from the temple town of Palani in Tamil Nadu was also arrested along with the ex-serviceman Rajan Nair, who was a neighbour of the girl hailing from Paravoor in Ernakulam district, police sources said.

The sexual abuse of the 14-year-old girl came to light three months ago after her mother lodged a complaint before the police submitting that her husband had forcibly taken the daughter to prostitution.

Based on the submissions made by the girl and the mother, the police registered a case and launched a probe.

Though the police were able to arrest a few persons, including the girl’s father and mother in connection with the case, the government handed over the investigation to Crime Branch after there were allegations that the police were trying to help a few high-profile persons belonging to film industry.

ALUVA: The victim of Kothamangalam sex scam has revealed to the police the names of those who had sexually harrased her. The police said that though the girl's father Mohemmedali initially maintained that he began to force his daughter into prostitution only three months ago, on further questioning he confessed that he had been indulging in the crime for more than a year. The police added that the girl was often sexually harassed in vehicles like cars and autorickshaws and that at least 11 persons had harassed her. The incident came to light after the authorities of the school where she studied informed the police about the incident. Mohemmedali had earlier taken his daughter to hospital for pregnancy test which proved positive. He had reportedly forced the hospital authorities to subject the girl to Medical Termination of Pregnancy.But, the hospital authorities informed the matter to the school authorities who in turn tipped the police.Meanwhile, the local people said the girl might have been presented to more than 100 persons during the last one year. One of her classmates is also said to have sexually harassed her. Mohemmedali has reportedly told the police that a local leader of a political party had harassed the girl. The local people have also tipped the police about a similar incident in the locality in which the victim and her parents have reportedly been moved to Tamil Nadu by some people to suppress the incident. The police have started an investigation into the 'missing' of the girl and her parents. However, they refused to confirm or deny the story.

The Crime Branch team investigating the sensational Paravur sex scandal case, have arrested one more person in connection with the case.
Police identified the accused as Laiju. It is suspected that more than 100 men sexually exploited the girl, including her father, after promising her roles in films. The Crime Branch team had arrested 51 persons in connection with the case so far.

Jun 22: After the dreadful case of sexual exploitation of a minor girl by 100 men that got revealed in Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy acting tough on the case promised that the culprits would be taken to task and given stringent punishment.

Expressing shock and emotions over the pathetic incident, Chandy said, "Police is actively probing the case. Government will not allow anyone to escape the law."

A 14 year-old-girl who hails from Paravoor in Ernakulum district confided to a relative about her miserable plight. She was sexually abused by 100 men, including her father. She is now being treated for venereal disease.

This case was lodged three months back. The CM said that five police teams have been formed to nab the culprits and already 29 have been arrested. But, 71 culprits are still moving free.

According to the police sources, the victim's father used to do odd roles in Malayalam films, who first exploited his own daughter and then threw her to wolves.

The police is still searching for other culprits in the neighbouring states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Chandy said, "Police is actively probing the case. The government will not allow anyone to escape the law."
