KOCHI:The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the Directorate Of Public Instructions (DPI) to issue directives to the respective District Educational Officers (DEO) to take charge of the management of thirty-three aided schools in the state to ensure that the students there have adequate toilets.
The court passed the order after the DPI submitted that the state had disqualified the 33 schools for not complying with the court directive regarding construction of toilets at schools.
The court had earlier issued a directive to the DPI to complete the construction of toilets at schools as soon as possible.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice K Surendra Mohan recorded the submissions made by the DPI.
The court asked the managers to spend the grant allotted to them for constructing the toilets.
