THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PSC chairman K S Radhakrishnan has said that the PSC will take a decision favourable to the prospective candidates on the requirement of additional DCA qualification for the Secretariat assistant’s post.
Speaking to reporters for the first time after assuming the office at the PSC headquarters here on Wednesday, he said that the PSC also had to take a decision on the recognition of DCA courses offered by various institutes.
When pointed out that large number of candidates would lose the opportunity to write the exam if they were not given sufficient time to acquire the qualiifiation, he said that Commission would take this matter also into consideration.
When pointed out that the officer, who is probing the mobile phone copying case related to the examination for the sub-inspector’s post, had complained that PSC had not taken a helpful stand, the chairman said that the PSC would offer all support to the investigators. He, however, said that the PSC had no sufficient infrastructure to prevent copying completely.
He also said that the PSC would take a favourable decision on the government’s request to extend the validity of all PSC rank lists till March 31, 2012 to the benefit of the candidates.
He said the first sitting of the Commission chaired by him had taken a decision to allot examination centres for women candidates within their own taluks. He said that at present there was shortage of sufficient infrastructure to permit the candidates to write the PSC examinations within their districts.
He said the Commission’s objective was to ensure the publication of the rank lists of all examinations within one year of the exams.
The PSC chairman hoped that proper use of Information Technology and other modern facilities would help reduce the delay in publishing the ranklists. He said that the Commission had decided to give official farewell to all employees on their retirement at their respective offices, to be attended by chairman or members. They also would be given a memento bearing the emblem of the Commission as a token of appreciation of their service, he said.
