Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan today criticised the appointment of former CII chairman Tarun Das as Planning Board member, saying he was a known corporate man. However, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy defended the appointment saying "those who can do good to the society should be in such posts. I am not for any controversy on the matter," Chandy said.
Addressing a press conference here, Achuthanandan said the posting of Tarun Das had proved the true colours of the ruling UDF as the person had always been favouring the interests of the corporates. Achuthanandan also said yesterday's screening of video tapes on the July 20 voting on the Appropriation Bill had vindicated the opposition charge that UDF deliberately delayed the voting to muster enough strength in the House to save the government.
