Kottayam: Man held for misbehaving with girls on train
Thursday, February 09, 2012: The railway police took into custody a youth who allegedly misbehaved with some women passengers who were travelling in the ladies’ compartment of the Ernakulam–Kottayam passenger train. The person has been identified as a native of Maharashtra.
The incident occurred near Kuruppumthara station in the morning. According to the police the man entered the ladies’ compartment when the train came to a halt for crossing and tried to push the girls out of the compartment.
Hearing the commotion the other passengers rushed to the students’ aid and handed over the man to the Kaduthuruthy police. Even though the Railway authorities had assured that women police officers would be deployed on duty in the ladies compartment in night trains in the backdrop of the sensational Soumya murder case the assurance still remains unfulfilled.
