Marad case: Govt justifies move to transfer probe officer
Wednesday, February 08, 2012: The state government today informed the Kerala High Court that there was nothing unusual in its move to dismantle the Marad Special Investigation Team during the pendency of the case and all its members, including the team head, C M Pradeep Kumar, were transferred.
In an affidavit filed in the Court, DGP informed that the government was considering an option to appoint Superintendent of Police PA Valsan as the chief of the Marad special probe team.
Recently, the SIT chief C M Pradeep Kumar was transferred to Kerala Human Rights Commission, following which the functioning of SIT has come to a standstill.
SIT was constituted to probe the larger conspiracy behind the second Marad carnage in the coastal village in Kozhikode in 2003 in which 8 persons were killed.
