THRISSUR, Five of family found dead

THRISSUR: Five members of a family were found dead in the district. The dead have been identified as Devassy of Wadakkancherry, his wife Elssy (50), the couple’s daughter-in-law Mini (40) and her children Aneesh (8) and Albin(3). The condition of the couple’s son Shibu (35) is stated to be serious.


When Devassy was found hanging the others ended their lives by consuming poison. The family may have committed suicide due to financial liabilities.


The family was staying in a rented house in the district for the past four years. Sources said the family, who were tapping labourers had borrowed an amount of Rs 3 lakhs for interest to buy a house. Even though they paid the amount as advance for the house, they were not able to pay the remaining cash nor were able to pay the interest.


The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital.
