Thrissur: Stones pelted at KSRTC buses during hartal

Friday, February 10, 2012: Agitators pelted stones at KSRTC buses in Thrissur during the hartal announced by the Samyuktha Samara Samithi as a protest against police action on the activists who staged demonstration in connection with the Mannuthy- Edapally toll collection.
The Bharatiya Janata Party and the CPI have also extended their support to the 12-hour-hartal. The agitators damaged several KSRTC buses which operated in the Muliyam, Mullassery areas. Private vehicles and autorickshaws are running.
Most of the schools and shop establishments remain closed. The private buses are also not plying. The effort to start toll collection on Mannuthy- Edapally national highway turned violent at Paliakkara toll plaza on Thursday as police resorted to lathi charge to disperse protesters.
