KOZHIKODE: CPM Politburo member Brinda Karat has emphatically stated that there would be no place for those who harass and undermine the dignity of women in her party. Briefing the media about the decisions taken at the party congress here, she said that there was no ambiguity in the party on this issue.
When pointed out that there were several reports of party leaders being protected by the leadership in spite of complaints of harassment against women by them, Brinda said party was clear on the issue.
“We cannot tolerate a single case of sexual harassment of women by any party leader or worker,” she said.

Mamata Banerjee questioning the veracity of a rape victim’s complaint, the incident involving BJP Ministers’ watching pornography at the Karnataka Assembly, etc. Asked to comment on VS Achuthanandan’s re induction to the Politburo, Brinda said she could not comment as it was an organisational matter to be decided by the central committee and party congress. Referring to the land issues in Nandigram and Singur she said the party did not believe that there was any forceful acquisition of land there.
