KOCHI: Lawyers in Kerala boycotted various courts, including the high court, for the second day on Thursday protesting the Higher Education and Research Bill.
The functioning of the high court and various other courts was hit as most of the advocates stayed away. Only Government Pleaders appeared in various courts in the High Court.
Cases in various other courts were adjourned due to the absence of advocates, who stayed away in response to a nation-wide protest called by the Bar Council of India.
Kerala Bar Council sources said the strike was total.
There are 43,000 lawyers in the Bar Council Roll in the state and all of them abstained from work.
