State to convert barren lands to agri lands

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The state will take steps to convert barren lands in all panchayats into agricultural lands. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said 'It is a matter of shame that we depend on other states for vegetables.' 'All support would be rendered to those who promote vegetable gardens. The Centre is giving 75% subsidy for implementing hi-tech farming in the state. Effort would be put in to get sanction for cultivating different vegetables at 5% land in plantations,' he said.
