State to stop converting agriculture fields
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government will take stern measures to check the filling of paddy fields, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said. 'Drastic decrease in the area of paddy fields can in no way be justified. Certain concessions have been given to those lands converted for commercial purposes years ago,' he said in a press release here today. 'But no one would be allowed to fill paddy fields taking advantage of this concession,' he added.
Concession can be allowed to those who don't have enough land for construction of homes alone.
But real estate mafias converting paddy fields for their advantage should not happen.
Steps will be taken to curb those people buying large number of paddy fields.
