THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The high-voltage political campaigns for the civic polls came to an end on Saturday in seven districts where the first phase polling will take place on Monday. Now what are left are hours of silent campaigns. The climax of the campaign was staged at Peroorkkada.
As the time for public campaigns ended, candidates started meeting voters in person and pleading for votes. For them, the next few days would also be time for evaluating their campaigns. However, a never-seen-before presence of the BJP in most wards became a head ache for both Left and Right fronts.
Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, North Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod will go to polls on Monday. The polling time will be from 7am to 5 pm.
In seven districts 31,161 candidates are contesting and out of that 15848 are women voters. In all seven districts, there are 1,11,11,006 voters. Meanwhile, liquor has been banned in the seven districts from today evening till the polling ends.
