No traction in Natesan’s own home ground

ALAPPUZHA: Cherthala, the home turf of SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, gave a cold response to the BJP-SNDP alliance. Most of the seats the two fought jointly in Cherthala were lost.

The UDF won even in Natesan’s home ward. In Mavelikara, there was a similar arrangement between the two entities and it gained some seats. Nevertheless, the BJP has improved its position in the district. Leaders of the BJP and SNDP Yogam had explained earlier that the understanding between them did not spill over to the whole district, but was limited to certain pockets. The exact extent of support garnered by either entities may need to be assessed in the days to come.
