KOCHI: In a temporary relief to the chief minister, the division bench of the Kerala High Court stayed two sentences of the remarks made by the single bench against Oommen Chandy in connection with the land fraud case. However, the bench did not stay other observations of the 70th paragraph against the chief minister and his office. Meantime, the court strictly directed that single bench’s criticism should not affect the CBI probe at all.
The division bench comprising of Justice K M Joseph and Jayashankar Nambiar stayed the remarks that the chief minister is answerable to the doubts regarding the functioning of his own office and personal staff and the CM was not prudent and responsible in appointing persons of integrity in his office.
Kodiyeri’s statements contradictory: Thiruvanchoor
KOTTAYAM: Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said that CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s statements with regards to his meetings with Kerala High Court Judge Haroon Al Rasheed were contradictory.
At a press conference here he also asked Kodiyeri to clarify why he concealed his meeting with Haroon Rasheed.
“Kodiyeri said that he had gone to Rasheed’s house when the judge expressed his desire to visit the former’s cabin for inviting him to his (judge’s) daughter’s wedding. But, was there any need for invitation two months ahead of the May 28 wedding?,” asked Thiruvanchoor.
The visuals of the meeting between Justice Rasheed and Kodiyeri on February 28 had come out.
At a press conference here he also asked Kodiyeri to clarify why he concealed his meeting with Haroon Rasheed.

Tushar Vellappally associated with Team Solar: Saritha S Nair
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Solar scam accused Saritha S Nair has alleged that Tushar Vellapally, the son of Vellappaly Natesan and SNDP Youth movement president, was closely associated with Team solar company.
She also warned Vellapally that she would disclose more damaging things not good for him, if he didn’t stop badmouthing her. “For the past few days Vellapally had been dragging my name into unnecessary controversies. There is a limit to a woman being berated. If this continues I will reveal more things against Vellapally,” she said, adding that she will reveal more names after April 10.

Jacob Punnoos intervened in ice-cream case, alleges VS
NEW DELHI: The additional affidavit filed in the Supreme Court by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan mentioned the intervention of former DGP Jacob Punnoos in the investigation of the sensational ice-cream parlour case. The affidavit alleged his intervention as contempt of court.
VS had filed an affidavit in the case earlier. The leader filed the additional affidavit Tuesday with special permission of Justice Ranjana Desai considering the case. Talks were held with officials in the presence of the attorney general before the final report of the investigating team is produced. The affidavit stated that the former DGP intervened in the investigation in order to sabotage the case.

Keralite stabbed to death in Riyadh
RIYADH: A youth from Kerala was stabbed to death at Badiya near Riyadh. The dead has been identified as Sayyedalavi (34), native of Malappuram. A neighbour of the dead has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Sayyedalavi was working in a grocery shop in Badiya. A youth came to Sayyedalavi’s shop and asked for a cigarette.
When Sayyedalavi asked money for it, he left the shop, came back with a knife and stabbed him to death.

Man held for sexually harassing minor
KANNUR: A man was arrested for sexually harassing a minor girl sleeping with her parents. The accused has been identified as Santhosh, native of Thiruvananthapuram and working in Ayyikkara, Kannur. He sexually harassed the girl after carrying her from the side of the parents and then dumped her at an isolated place early Tuesday morning.
In a search conducted by the parents, they found the child. Police reached the spot and took him into custody.
The child has been admitted in the hospital.
