Let Mani leave, I’ll stay: George

KOTTAYAM: Government Chief Whip P C George has said that he will not leave Kerala Congress (M) but Mani can leave if he wishes. “If Mani wants, he can leave the party  and he has no right to oust me,” said George, adding, “Kerala is not a party now and it has become a confederation”.     

George said he would vote for the UDF in the Rajya Sabha election. He would suggest to the Speaker to allow open voting so that the trust in him is not lost.   

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will consider on Monday the demand for removing George as Chief Whip. He is reportedly thinking about retaining George in the UDF, though he may have to be removed from his present post. The chief minister will hold talks in this regard with Mani and George on Monday.      

Police file charge sheet against Nisham in Chandrabose murder case

THRISSUR: The police Saturday filed a charge sheet in the sensational murder of Chandrabose, a 51-year-old security guard allegedly killed by industrialist Mohammed Nisham at the Judicial First Class Magistrate court at nearby Kunnamkulam.

The charge sheet contained scientific evidences and other documents to prove the charges, including murder, against Nisham, police said.

Statements of 12 eyewitnesses, including Nisham's wife Amal, had been recorded under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Besides, statements of over 100 witnesses had also been recorded and attached with the charge sheet.

Police said they also have plans to move court for a speedy trial.

The businessman, who was in an inebriated state, had allegedly in a fit of rage assaulted Chandrabose and later rammed his luxury vehicle into him over delay in opening the gate of his residential complex here on January 29.

The guard succumbed to injuries on February 16.

The case had evoked widespread protests across the state.

Moral policing in Thrissur: Two held for murder

THRISSUR:  The police Saturday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a youth alleging illegal relationship. The arrested has been identified as Shahid and Ramshad, natives of Anchangadi.  

Zawahir (27), a resident of Anchangadi in Chavakkad was beaten to death by a mob after found in the house of a woman. Zawahirwas attacked Thursday night. As soon as he entered the woman’s house, a group of people residing in the neighbourhood intercepted and questioned him, leading to an assault. He was taken to a private hospital by some unidentified men, but he died early Friday morning.

Youth hacked in Chalai

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth was hacked over a dispute in Chalai.The youth injured has been identified asSajad, a labourer of Chalai. A dispute was on in the area over shifting of a ‘thattukada’.

He sustained hacked injuries early Saturday morning at Karimadom in Chalai. The Fort Police said a four-member team is behind the incident and a clue has been obtained on the accused. Sajad has been admitted in the KIMS Hospital.

Kavya Madhavan pooh poohs marriage rumours

KOCHI: Actress Kavya Madhavan is quite annoyed at the baseless rumours doing the rounds in social networking sites about her impending marriage with actor Dilip.  She rubbished the rumours and termed it as untrue. It is only an imaginary creation, she posted in her Facebook page.

The marriage of the actress with Dilip on April 16 at Guruvayur was carried on April fool’s day. Some other social networking sites too carried it.

However, the actress has denied the news. She posted in her Facebook page that she should have the liberty to inform the good news of her life in her own words, she pleaded to friends handling the fake news section.

However, actor Dilip has also denied the news. He said that in the past one year, fake news regarding his marriage has been carried for at least 15 times. When I want to get married, I have the obligation to apprise people about it and I will surely call the media and inform it, he said.

Shine Tom Chacko to quit cigarette and liquor

KOCHI: Actor Shine Tom Chacko, accused in the cocaine case, said that from now on will not use cigarette and liquor. Addressing the media at the Kochi Press Club after released on bail, he said the situation faced by my parents should not happen to anybody. I don’t think my friends had betrayed me in the cocaine case.

I am trying to complete the film Vishwasam Athalle Ellam. The shooting will be completed within 15 days, he said.
