KOCHI: The Kerala High Court Tuesday rejected CPM local leaders Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan’s plea seeking relaxation of bail conditions to go to Kannur. The court granted bail to the two, accused in the murder case of NDF activist Thalassary Fazal, on the condition that they should not leave Ernakulam.
However, Karayi Rajan was chosen as the Kannur district panchayat president and Karayi Chandrasekharan as the Thalassery Municipal chairman in the local body polls. In this context, the plea demanded to cancel the condition as they want to go to Kannur to fulfil their administrative responsibilities.
However, the CBI opposed the plea in the high court. They were of the stand that if they are permitted to go to Kannur they may influence the witnesses’ by threatening them. The CBI had argued in the court that the two contested the polls knowing that they cannot go to Kannur. Justice Sunil Thomas rejected their plea accepting these arguments.
Many leaders harassed me physically, mentally: Saritha
KOCHI: Solar scam accused Saritha S Nair said before the Solar Commission on Monday that several political leaders had harassed her mentally and physically.
She confirmed her statement before Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate that she was sexually harassed. She also said that her mother knew about the content of the letter she had written from jail.
“My culture doesn’t allow me to reveal many things in the letter. In it, there are names of 13 VIPs and one police man. But, I shall not reveal their names. I am also not interested in presenting the letter as it is a private one,” she said.
Saritha said: “After being released from jail, I went to Kerala Congress (B) chairman Balakrishna Pillai’s cousin’s house for stay. Former Government Chief Whip P C George might have read my letter. It was Pillai who gave George the letter. Pillai also asked me to go and meet George. I went to George’s house, wearing purdah in order to hide my identity.”

Benny Behanan-Saritha telephonic talk is out
KOCHI: The telephonic talk between solar scam accused Saritha S Nair and Benny Behanan that is claimed to be an important evidence in ‘the solar mess’ was made available to the media on Monday. Saritha submitted the CD of the talk to the Solar Commission in the morning, following which TV channels started flashing the conversation.
Benny Behanan opens the conversation with Saritha by asking whether she had not contacted Thampanoor Ravi. He also advises her to be take a practical stand on the issue. He assures her that nothing will happen to her.
Saritha: “Sir, do you know how have I lived all these days. For everything I am getting caught.

Salim Raj also asks her to say that she had not talked to him immodestly and that she gave a different statement earlier as urged by Investigation officers.

Four-member gang brutally bludgeons youth to death
ATTINGAL: In a shocking incident, a youth was brutally beaten to death by a four-member gang at Attingal Vakkam in broad daylight on Sunday.
The dead has been identified as Vakkam Manacaud native Shabeer (23). The incident happened near Vakkam level cross at around 5:30 in the evening. The gang who came on bikes waylaid Shabeer and his friend Unnikrishnan and beat them using wooden log. The incident came to light after TV channels started flashing the visuals of the attack on Monday evening.
It is believed that past rivalry in connection with some temple festival in the locality could be the reason behind the killing. In the name of certain verbal duel during the festival time, Shabeer’s four friends had allegedly attacked four persons’ houses. The police said these four persons could be behind Sunday’s attack
Shabeer who was severely injured in the incident was admitted in the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College yesterday but he succumbed to the injuries around 2 pm on Monday.
Unnikrishnan who was with him is under treatment. Kadakkavoor police said they had identified the culprits. The arrest is yet to happen.
