Google April fools us with Tap

SAN FRANCISCO: Google on its official blog announced a new app called Google Tap. The post began by saying, "The QWERTY keyboard was invented in 1874 and yet it is still used today, largely unchanged. Today we're excited to introduce a new input method designed for the future:"


But nobody really noticed that 'today' was April fool’s Day and the internet giant is a big fan of April 1.


The feature seemed to revolutionise the idea of keyboard by turning 26 keys to two keys, which are dots and dashes. The interface based on Morse code even laid out a chart describing the codes and their corresponding alphabets.


The post also joked by saying that, "This makes it ideal for situations where you need to discreetly send emails, such as when you're on a date or in a meeting with your boss."


The blog posted by software engineer Reed Morse even claimed that creator of Morse code, Samuel F.B. Morse, was his great-grandfather's grandfather's brother.
