Tuesday, June 07, 2011: Health Minister Adoor Prakash said that he is giving up the PG payment seat of his daughter obtained in Pariyaram self financing medical college. Addressing a press meet in the capital city, the minister informed the decision was taken following unsavory statements against him.
Adoor said, “As a minister, I’ve not influenced anybody for the admission. Seats should not be denied to any other deserved students. I’m just like any other parent and even though my daughter will lose one year, I’m giving up the seat.”
The chairman of the college M V Jayarajan had even clarified that my daughter was given admissions through proper channel. The election results were not announced when my daughter got admission on May 3. Admission was given by the management after following all guidelines. I’d paid Rs.1, 42,000 as hostel fees and 28 lakhs as tuition fees for one year. He denied the news that he had paid Rs.80 lakhs as first installment.
He said his daughter gained admission on May 4, 2011. The application was invited on March 14. The test and interview was conducted on March 31. He said during that time even the election results were not out. He said allegations were raised against him as he remitted Rs 80 lakh for the seat in Pariyaram medical college. He said he never gave black money and the receipt he received after paying fee, is with him. He said admission was gained after completing all legal proceedings.
