1000 Mini supermarkets for Kerala

Kochi: Kerala State Co-operative Consumers' Federation Ltd (CONSUMERFED) will open 1000 mini supermarkets across the state soon as part of their initiative in market intervention and providing essential commodities at affordable price to the common man, its new President Advo. Joy Thomas said today.


Participating in a meet-the-press programme at the press club here,he said currently the CONSUMERFED has only 192 such outlets across the state.

It has decided to make it 1000 as part of their initiative to enter in villages.

Stating that the objective of CONSUMERFED was to cater to the needs of the common man by providing essential commodities at reasonable rates, he said with this initiative by the Federation, it had succeeded in providing consumer goods to common man by 20 to 30 per cent less than in the open market.

Talking about the future plans of the Federation, the newly appointed president said it had plans to open Thriveni Coffee houses and setting up of more ''neethi'' medical stores in the state.
