Tuesday, August 16, 2011: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the petition filed by the previous LDF government against a HC verdict which acquitted Minister TM Jacob in relation to a corruption case of Kuriyar Kutty hydroelectric project. The previous LDF government approached the SC against the HC verdict, which acquitted Jacob and 8 others. The Vigilance case was that, a loss of Rs 57 lakh was caused to the state exchequer by allotting extra amount to the contractors for construction of Moolathara canal.
Jacob was adjudged as the ninth accused in the charge sheet prepared by MP Dinesh, who was Palakkad vigilance DySP.
