Sunday, August 7, 2011: Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Tribes and Youth Affairs P.K. Jayalakshmi has said the Kerala government will shortly introduce a new youth policy for the State to strengthen the activities in the youth empowerment sector.
Inaugurating the valedictory session of a three-day training camp for youths organised by the Youth Welfare Board, here on Saturday, the Minister said the draft of the new policy would shortly be completed as part of the 100-day programme of the government. “So far, the State had been functioning without a separate youth policy here, she pointed out.
Referring to the plan of the State government to conduct a number of training programmes for youth empowerment Ms. Jayalakshmi said she would look into the scope of opening a State-level training centre for youth utilizing the financial aid of both the Union and State governments “The new centre will have all modern amenities to conduct comprehensive coaching programmes,” she said.
