3.8 kg of gold jewellery looted in Thrissur


Wednesday, 15 February 2012: A major gold theft took place in the Thrissur district today early morning. 3.8 kilograms of gold worth around Rs 1 crore was looted by armed robbers after stopping the car at Fathima Nagar. The incident happened when the traders were on the way to their shops for distributing jewels.
After stopping the vehicle, the robbers decamped with the gold. The vehicle was damaged by the robbers. The gold was being taken to supply in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam areas.
One person identified as Murali suffered injuries in the attack. Finger print experts and police will examine the car and the premises.
