DMRC to take up Kochi Metro: Kamal Nath

NEW DELHI: Union minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath said that Kochi Metro project will be carried out by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).


The minister said that it is up to the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) to decide on whether the charge of Kochi Metro be entrusted to E Sreedharan DMRC Managing Director E. Sreedharan. The centre would not interfere in this. He also said that the Kochi Metro would be on the lines of Chennai Metro.


The central government is giving top priority to the project. The work will be started as early as possible, Kamal Nath said.
