A+ students will get school of their choice, says Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students who secure A-Plus in all subjects will be offered school of their choice for Plus One admission, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the State Assembly today.


'A direction has been issued on this. It has also been directed not to make applicable the single window system for this. If there are no vacancies in a particular school, seats will be created and students admitted,' Chandy said while replying to an adjournment motion in this regard brought by Opposition MLA K Salekha. He also offered solatium to the family of Reshma, a student from Pattambi, who allegedly committed suicide dejected over not getting admission to plus one.


He said the confusion over single window system was also a reason for her not getting admission to Plus One.
Steps will be taken to resolve the mistakes in the single window system, introduced by the previous CPI (M)-led LDF in the state, he added.
