14 persons bitten by stray dog at Mananthavady

KALPETTA: Fourteen persons were bitten by a stray dog at Mananthavady on Thursday. Those who were bitten by the dog included a special village officer, a 61-year-old man and a Class I student. The canine attack took place at Ambukuthy, Kaniyaram, Edappatty, Ondayangadi, Kallumottamkunnu, Choyimoola, and Kalliyottukunnu, near Mananthavady.

Kumaran, 45, special village officer, Cherukattur, was the first to be attacked by the dog at around 6 a.m. at Kaniyaram junction. The dog created panic around four hours. Later the residents of the area killed it. The injured were admitted to the Mananthavady District Hospital. The Revenue Department announced an aid of Rs 2,000 each to those injured.
