THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Tuesday said the reports that the Congress high command had not demanded former Finance minister K M Mani’s resignation. “Neither the UDF nor I had also not made any such demand. He resigned out of his own will, in order to respect the high court verdict,” Chandy said at a press conference called soon after Mani announced his resignation.
The chief minister announced that he was accepting Mani’s resignation letter that would reach him shortly.
“From the beginning of the bar bribery issue, the UDF had taken the stand that Mani was innocent. Now also, we maintain the same stand. We hope he would get cleared of all charges and return to the cabinet soon,” said Chandy.
