Vigilance director to take decision on complaint against Minister Babu: Chennithala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said the vigilance director will take a decision regarding a probe in connection with the new corruption allegations levelled by Biju Ramesh, bar hotel association working President, against Excise Minister K Babu.

Talking to reporters here, he said the director has full freedom in it. Biju had alleged that an amount of Rs one crore was given to the minister in two installments.

The argument that there are two kinds of justice for K M Mani and Minister Babu in the case is not right. Vigilance is an independent agency. Whether to take a case or not comes under their limits. Neither the government nor the home department intervenes in it. Those who have complaints can move the court, he said.

In reply to a question, he said the allegation that Biju Radhakrishnan, accused in the solar case, tried to influence the jail superintendent of Poojappura Jail, will be looked into.
