KOCHI: Former excise minister K Babu Monday said the allegations of corruption in permitting bar license is totally baseless. Those who incurred a loss when bars were closed lodged a complaint against me as part of a conspiracy, he told reporters here.
I will seek legal opinion to prove my innocence. A deliberate lapse in the bar license has not happened. Norms were never flouted. A delay may have happened due to my busy schedule, he added.
A probe is being conducted by Vigilance Ernakulam range DySP Feroz M Shefeeq on the complaint of Kerala Hotel and Industrialist Association that corruption had taken place in permitting bar license during the UDF Government’s rule.
A FIR was registered against him after quick verification. It was registered at the vigilance court in Moovattupuzha after the allegations were found true in the quick verification.
