Kerala HC quashes previous govt decision to cancel contract

KOCHI: Kerala High Court Tuesday quashed the previous LDF government's decision to cancel the award of a Rs 240-crore contract to a Korean firm for implementation of IT Systems of the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms programme in the state.


The government had earlier granted sanction to KSEB to award the work to the Korean Electric Power Data Network Company Ltd owned by the Korean Republic.


Following objections raised by the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), then Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan intervened and cancelled the contract and ordered re-tender of the work.


Challenging this decision the company approached the Court.
