Man sentenced to 10 yrs RI for raping kid

KOCHI: Rajan, 53, of Neriyamangalam, was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping a nine-year-old girl in February 2010. Public Prosecutor Giji Mathew said the child had been bathing with two other girls in a temple pond when Rajan attacked them. He hit other children and chased them away before raping the nine-year-old girl. The special court to try sexual violence and atrocities against women and children in Kochi also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Rajan on Friday.
