One killed in accident

KOTTARAKKARA: One person was killed after a Wagon R and a Scorpio collided at Inchakkad in Kottarakkara on the MC Road. The dead has been identified as Roy John (54) of Chenganoor.

Sajeev, Shiju Varghese, who were in the car and Ayub Khan, Noushad, passengers of Scorpio have been admitted at Pushpagiri Medical College and Kottarakkara taluk hospitals.

The incident happened Monday early morning at 1.30 am. Both the vehicles were proceeding to Kottayam from Kottarakkara.

CHAVARA: One person was killed after a mini bus overturned at Neendakara in Kollam. Twelve persons sustained injuries. The dead has been identified as Babu of Alappuzha. The seriously injured has been admitted at the Alappuzha Medical College and the others at Kollam district hospital.

The incident happened early Thursday morning on the national highway near  Cheelanthimukku at Neendakara. The bus carrying fishermen from Punnapra in Alappuzha overturned after one of its tyre burst.

ALAPPUZHA: One person was killed after a wood laden lorry collided with a pick up van early Sunday morning on the national highway.  Two persons sustained injuries. The identity of the dead has not been ascertained.

KANNUR: One person was killed and three others were injured after the vehicle in which they were travelling overturned at Kannothumchal in the district. The dead has been identified as Abid, 27, a native of Peringome, who was the driver of the Tata Sumo which overturned after hitting a sand pile on the roadside. It was drizzling when the accident occurred. The driver died on the spot. The foursome was on their way from Kadachira to a hospital after one of them had reportedly fallen unconscious. He has been admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College hospital in a serious condition. The other two suffered minor injuries, the police said.
