KOLLAM: A 31-year-old-woman and her minor daughter allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river. The dead has been identified as Soumya (31) and her seven-year-old-daughter as Adithya.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon. They jumped into the river from the Kallukadavu Bridge.
The bodies were fished out jointly by the local people and the fire force.

KOLLAM: A woman and her two daughters were found dead in Kollam. The dead has been identified as Archana (30) and daughters Anu (10) and Ponnu (8).

Woman, kids found dead
KOZHIKODE: A woman and her three daughters were found charred to death in Balusseri. The woman has been identified as Nazeela (35), wife of Shihab of Thudiyangal at Ekarool in the district, daughters Hanna (12) and twin daughters Thazna and Nezna, aged three.
The incident is suspected to have happened early this morning. The bodies of the four were found in the bedroom. The house locked from inside has been completely damaged in the fire.
Nazeela had telephoned her brothers last evening and asked them to reach home as her children were not well. She also told them that Shihab, who came from Gulf for Ramzan, had gone to Delhi. When her brothers reached home, the house was in fire. After inquest, the bodies were shifted to medical college hospital.

KANNUR: Two persons of a family were killed and another seriously injured when a car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry when they were returning from Guruvayoor temple to Thalassery town early Tuesday. The dead have been identified as Sindhu (45), wife of Ratnakumar of Kannur and her son Vishnu (24).
The accident happened early morning at 2 am at the Venus Corner. Driver Babu has been admitted at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.
The bodies of Sindhu and Vishnu have been shifted to Thalassery Medical College Hospital. Sindhu was the daughter of late Shankaran Nair and late Karthiyani.
Shankar, a plus two student is Sindhu’s youngest son. Ratnakumar is working abroad.

MALAPPURAM: A woman and her two daughters died after the scooter in which they were travelling fell into a marshy pit. The dead have been identified as Shabira, wife of Muhammed Sherif of Areekkode and daughters Fatima Fida and Faifa. Sherif injured in the accident has been admitted at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The incident happened early Monday morning at 2.30 am. The incident happened when Sherif was proceeding to his house. Police said Sherif’s vehicle fell into the marshy pit after losing control.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman and her daughter were killed after being hit by an express train near Kadakkavoor railway station in the district on Tuesday evening. The dead were identified as Nirmala, 40, and Sowmya, 17, the Kadakkavoor police said. They were crossing the track to board a train back home at Poonthura, after visiting a relative at Anchuthengu when the Nagercoil-Gandhidham express train knocked them down. Both died on the spot, the police said.

CHELAKKARA: A woman and her son were found dead in a pond. They have been identified as Sajitha (29), wife of Sahadevan, and her son Sanjay Krishnan (9). The couple’s three year old daughter Diya has been rescued.
The two were found dead after the woman’s husband, a tapping labourer, went for work. The bodies were recovered after an intense search by her relatives and locals.
The condition of Diya is said to be stable. The bodies have been taken to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

ALUVA: In a tragic incident a mother and daughter were crushed to death after a train knocked them down at Pulichode, near here. The dead were identified as Seetha (40) and her daughter Awsathy (15), hailing from Pallipuram, near Munambam, in the district, police said. They were knocked down by Dhanbad-Alappuzha Express while crossing the railway track at around 1720 hrs, killing them instantly, the sources added.
Woman, daughter killed in accident at Harippad
HARIPPAD: A 75 year old woman and her daughter were killed in a road accident when the Tata Sumo they were travelling in collided with a tourist bus at Harippad in Alappuzha district of Kerala on Thursday. Nine others including a baby were injured.
The deceased were identified as Bhargavi (75), wife of late Vasudevan from Ochira, and her daughter Saraswati (45). The incident happened at SN Kadavu Junction around 6’O clock in the morning.
They were heading towards Thiruvankulam Temple in Ernakulam district for ‘choroonu’ ceremony (It is a ceremony where one gives rice to the baby for the first time) of the six-month old son Adithyan of Manju, Saraswati’s daughter. Manju and Adithyan got injured in the accident.
Apart from Manju (26) and Adithyan, those injured were identified as Subhashini (50), sister of Bhargavi, Arunima (26), daughter of Bhargavi, Vinaya aka Unnimaya (three and a half years old), daughter of Arunima, Rajesh (28), husband of Manju, Sreekkuttan (16), brother of Manju, her neighbor Sathi Amma (50), and driver Lalu (38). All the injured were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College hospital.
Woman, kids rescued
KOLLAM: A woman and two kids were rescued from drowning by the lifeguards and local fishermen at the Kollam beach. Vinayachandrika and eight year old children Malavika and Afsa were rescued. All belong to Karamana in Thiruvananthapuram. The three were part of a 14-member picnic group from Thiruvananthapuram.
