Schools without toilets will not be allowed to function, says Abdu Rabb

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb Thursday said that from this year onwards schools without toilets would not be allowed to function.

The inspection conducted by the health department found that there are 772 schools in the state without toilets. The report of the health department would be considered seriously and steps will be taken after examining it, he said.

Textbooks will reach all schools by the first week of June, he said.

Govt not aware of land gifted, says Abdu Rabb


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister P K Abdu Rabb Tuesday said the education department is not aware of the land gifted by the Calicut University. But if anything illegal has happened, strict steps will be taken.  


Universities have given land to trusts before. The Kerala University giving land to AKG Centre is an example for it. The involvement of Muslim League leaders in the trusts which obtained land from the University cannot be considered as a disqualification, the minister said.

Action against teachers boycotting exam duty, says Abdu Rabb


MALAPPURAM: Action will be taken against teachers agitating and boycotting of Onam exam duty, said Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb. The minister warned the teachers of aided higher secondary school in Malabar for their announcement of the boycott in the name of salary.

The minister said they are considering a package for solving the problems regarding salary of teachers and a strike at this time would be unnecessary. He said 238 parallel schools in the state will be upgraded as LP Schools.
