TIRUR: The snag developed amidst re-polling in Malappuram is a serious issue, said Minister Aryadan Muhammed. Such incidents are a threat to democracy. Lapses have occurred from the side of officials and it should be investigated, he said.
The voting machines in some booths in Malappuram and Thrissur where re-polling is underway developed a snag today also. The machines in Kottepadath of Chunkathara panchayat in Malappuram and Pariyapuram developed a snag. Efforts are taken to rectify it.
A snag was noticed in the voting machine at Kaippamangalam in Thrissur. Though polling was stopped for some time, it resumed later.
Voting machines in almost 250 booths developed a technical snag yesterday. It was found corrupted even after repaired. Replaced ones were also found defective. The authorities had to replace the machines thrice. The election commission found the error in the press error.

Rules not followed in child trafficking issue, says Aryadan
MALAPPURAM: Minister Aryadan Muhammed came forward supporting Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala in the incident on trafficking children from Jharkhand to Kerala.
Rules and procedures were not followed in the issue. It should be examined whether it was human trafficking, he said. The steps taken by the home department on the issue is correct, he said.
Aryadan said load shedding would continue till we get incessant rains. Once the maintenance work in the Kayamkulam power plant is completed, there will be load shedding only for 30 minutes from the present 45 minutes.

People have faith in VS, says Aryadan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The people of the state have faith in opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, said Minister Aryadan Muhammed. He praised the opposition leader during the release of a collection of cartoons by K B Hari Kumar.

KSRTC pumps to be given for rent to Supplyco, says Aryadan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran CPI leader Veliyam Bhargavan, who led the party in Kerala for long, died here Wednesday, sources said.
Bhargavan (85) had been keeping indifferent health for quite some time and the end came at a city hospital where he was admitted a few days back following respiratory troubles, party sources said.
He was a member of the CPI national council since 1971 and had served as the party's state secretary from 1998 to 2010, before stepping down from the post citing poor health.
Known for his unsullied record, Bhargavan had chosen to remain on the organisational front during most of his decade’s long public life.
Though an architect of the present LDF, Bhargavan was a tough negotiator within the front to secure the interests of his party.
Bhargavan who plunged into politics at a young age and displayed exemplary skills as organiser of workers, suffered physical torture for leading struggles of transport workers.
He was elected to the state assembly in 1957 and 60, after which he kept himself off electoral scene, concentrating entirely on the organisational front despite pressures from within the party to contest polls.
"His death is not just a loss to the party but for the whole of Kerala where he distinguished himself on account of his qualities as an astute and selfless politician of unflinching ideological commitment and determination," CPI leader and Rajya Sabha member M P Achuthan said.
Defence Minister A K Antony, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, CPI (M) stalwart V S Achuthanandan and BJP leader O Rajagopal also expressed deep sorrow at the death of Bhargavan.

No compromise in executing law, says Aryadan
NEW DELHI: There is no compromise in executing law on the safety measures taken for buses, said Transport Minister Aryadan Muhammed. The government is ready to solve the problems of bus owners, the minister told reporters in New Delhi.
Aryadan said, “The private bus strike is anti-democratic and against the government. Even the organisations owing allegiance to the Left did not support it. Talks will be held with the bus owners on Wednesday. The argument of bus owners that the speed governors are ‘unscientific’ is wrong. The government will solve if there is a practical difficulty in implementing it. No vengeful act will be taken against the bus owners.”
The government had not given any assurance to the bus owners and this was conveyed to Minister K V Thomas and T N Prathapan MLA who took the initiative for the talks. State’s financial situation bad, says Aryadan
KOCHI: The financial situation of the state is bad, said Minister Aryadan Muhammed. In India, Kerala has the largest revenue deficit. But forgetting all these, some exaggerate there is nothing wrong in the economy. I don’t want to mention anybody’s name now, he said.

NEW DELHI: Congress leader and Minister Aryadan Muhammed has once again turned against the Muslim League. He said the Congress and the Muslim League have two heritages and there is only cooperation based on the election manifesto.

Load shedding to be lifted before June 15, says Aryadan
KOCHI: Load shedding will be lifted in the state before June 15, said Minister Aryadan Muhammed. As the state has obtained enough rain, we will be able to lift load shedding completely before June 15, the minister said.
There is a cyclical load-shedding schedule during the morning and evening hours in the state. A cut is witnessed in the consumption of power after obtaining enough rain, said Aryadan.

Chennithala, CM should respond on ministership, says Aryadan
MALAPPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala should opine on the induction of the latter into the cabinet, said Minister Aryadan Muhammed.

KSRTC: CNG not immediate solution, says Aryadan
NEW DELHI: Using CNG for solving the diesel crisis in the KSRTC is not an immediate solution, said Transport Minister Aryadan Muhammed. A big financial liability will occur on shifting from diesel to CNG. Talking to reporters here, he said an additional expense of Rs 250 crores will occur.
The crisis in the Kayamkularm power plant will be solved soon. The crunch in the power sector worsened as the water in the Achankovil River cannot be used. Steps have been taken to solve the crisis using the water from Kakkad dam.
An amount of Rs 150 crores is needed again to implement the Moovattupuzha Irrigation Project.
Centre’s response not favourable towards KSRTC, says Aryadan
NEW DELLHI: Centre’s attitude towards the state’s demand for withdrawing KSRTC from the list of bulk diesel consumers, not favourable, said Power Minister Aryadan Muhammed. A favourable response was not obtained after talking with Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, he said.
An extra burden of Rs 15 crores is incurred to the KSRTC after the state has been included in list of bulk diesel consumers. The corporation now has to buy diesel on market rate.
The centre has expressed their limitations in exempting KSRTC. The government is trying to solve the issue after giving benefits, said Aryadan.
Bus fare will not be hiked , says Aryadan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister Aryadan Muhammed said the bus fare will not be hiked even after the KSRTC is in deep crisis following the increase in diesel price.
Now itself the KSRTC has a financial loss of Rs 900 crores.
The corporation cannot go forward in this present situation, he said.
No power cut in state, says Aryadan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There will be no power cut in the state but only load shedding, said Electricity Minister Aryadan Muhammed in the assembly. He said this is the biggest crisis faced after the commissioning of the Idukki Project.
Aryadan said this in reply to the adjournment motion brought by the opposition on power crisis. An amount of Rs 700 crores was spent to purchase power from outside. Following minister’s reply, the speaker denied permission for the motion. The opposition boycotted the proceedings in protest against it.
A K Balan from the CPM sought permission for the adjournment motion. Balan, former power minister, said that administrative inefficiency was the root cause for the power crisis in the state. The government failed to take steps to reduce the consumption of power. Cutting short centre’s share of power was not disclosed to anybody, alleged Balan.

KASARGOD: Power Minister Aryadan Muhammed said the power charge will be hiked in the state. Extra fare will be levied on consumers using excess units.
The minister said the bus fare hike is unavoidable. A decision on it will be taken before October 10, he said.
Terrorist organisations trying to enter political parties, says Aryadan
KOZHIKODE: Minister Aryadan Muhammed said terrorist organisations like SDPI, SIMI and Jamaat-e-Islami are trying to find a place in political parties. Talking at a function in the district, he said the political parties who have accommodated these organisations have suffered blows in their own way.
Aryadan asked political parties not to accommodate such organizations even if there are not much activists in their parties. Try to avoid such people even if the parties do not obtain municipal and corporation seats. I’m a disciplined congress activist and if anybody attacks me, I’ll not sit idle.
The minister said the government has not decided to increase power tariff for additional power consumption users. The regulatory commission has permitted to increase the tariff. The final decision will be taken by the government. The commission permitted to increase the charge for additional power consumption after the electricity board proposed for it, he said.
