KOTTAYAM: The role of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should also be probed over the controversial appointment of relatives, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. The controversy has not ended by the resignation of Jayarajan, he told reporters here.

THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: Instead of solving the issue in connection with the fee hike in self-financing colleges, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is pouring oil on the burning fire, alleged opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. Addressing a press meet here, he said the chief minister is responsible for the failure of the talks held with the managements.
The managements came for the talks as per the directive of the health minister. However, the chief minister blasted at the health minister and even spoke harshly. The chief minister’s statement in the assembly was a lie. The representatives of the management who met the opposition leaders were ready to reduce the fees. According to that, the opposition conveyed the things to the chief minister. He misled the assembly by holding the managements’ responsible for the failure of the talks. The people of the state will not pardon the chief minister for his action.
The chief minister changed his stand following a phone call from the AKG Centre. His bad behavior towards the health minister and the departmental secretary was witnessed by almost 30 people.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: I hope Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will take into account the statement of V S Achuthanandan that government’s stand on the indefinite fast staged by MLAs in the self-financing issue is wrong, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.
Talking to reporters here while reacting to the statement of VS, he said the government should take the initiative to hold talks and end the strike.
The government should compromise and be ready to hold talks. The UDF will go forward with the strike. These kind of strikes were staged earlier in the Kerala Assembly but that did not last for more than three days. The strike of the MLAs has now reached the fifth day. The government is taking a negative approach towards it. The government should be ready to hold talks at least now. They should not forget that the public is watching all this. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Strong protests would be staged inside and outside the assembly against state government’s anti-people policies, said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. Though the government had promised to withdraw the increased fees of document registration, no steps have been taken so far. The government has a partnership with the managements of self-financing institutions.
The situation is such children are not able to study in ordinary fees. Higher fees cannot be approved at all, he said.

Bar bribery: No heads or tails can be made of media reports, says Chennithala
KOCHI: One cannot make heads or tails out of media reports on Kerala Congress (M)’s inquiry report regarding bar bribery case, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said.
“Even Inquiry Commission chairman C F Thomas has clarified that there is no such a kind of report. Media persons should not publish news without checking its authenticity. Media persons should be more careful when they get such kind of reports,” he said at a press conference.
It had appeared in the news that Ramesh Chennithala and Adoor Prakash conspired to trap Mani in the bar bribery case.

Crime rate has come down, says Chennithala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that the crime rate in Kerala has come down. The number of murder cases has also come down. The allegation of the Opposition that the law and order situation has gone haywire is politically motivated.
"The police have been able to arrest accused in the three recent killings in Kerala. Operation Suraksha is for ensuring people's safety. Kubera operation was initiated to rein in 'blade' mafias. It is continuing now also. We will not allow anyone to take law into their own hands.”
Dismissing Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan's allegations against top police officials, Chennithala said DGP Sen Kumar and ADGP Hemachandran are honest and competent. "Everyone is using social media now. So there is nothing wrong if the officials use Facebook. We can’t prevent them from using it.”
The minister also said that instructions have been given to Traffic officials to go near vehicle users and check their documents if necessary, instead of summoning them to the police jeep or van. "This has been done to avoid inconvenience to travelers including women and children," he said.

NEW DELHI: My visit to Delhi is for personal matters, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala while talking to reporters said and there is no politics in my visit. No evidence against Minister Babu in bar case, says Chennithala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case was not registered against Excise Minister K Babu in the bar case as there was no evidence against him, reiterated Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala in the assembly. The Thrissur vigilance court ordered for a quick verification without examining the preliminary report of the vigilance, Chennithala said while replying to the notice for the adjournment motion of K Suresh Kurup.
The quick verification report will be submitted on January 23. The opposition staged a walk out when permission for the motion seeking the resignation of the minister was denied. Babu said that he will resign if proved that his name has been mentioned in Biju Ramesh’s section 164 statement. |

KOTTAYAM: The BJP central leadership is behind exempting Chief Minister Oommen Chandy from the unveiling ceremony of the statue of R Sankar, said Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bill controlling hartals will be presented in the coming assembly session, said Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. The bill will be passed in this session itself, he said while addressing the media.
Chennithala said there is a situation where even small political parties announce hartals and this could not be permitted. Several directions were obtained in connection with the forming of the bill. A final shape has been given after compiling all that.
Legal trade union strikes are not hartals. Peaceful demonstrations will not be regulated. Legal authority will not be limited in any way, the minister said.
