KOCHI: Actor-MP Innocent has said that organ donation is a noble deed and actor Srinivasan's remarks on it was due to his lack of knowledge.
He said this on Thursday at a family gathering of organ recipients at Ernakulam Lissie hospital, held as part of its diamond jubilee celebration. The actor was speaking after inaugurating the celebrations.
"However, Sreenivasan had corrected his statements later. I know many persons living normal life after organ transplantation surgery. What serves a patient more than medicine is his or her presence of mind. My life itself is an example for that. It was during a shooting location that I came to know I was having cancer. Though I was shocked them, I moved forward with courage," he said.

MPs’ job is not to peep into somebody’s kitchen, says Innocent
NEW DELHI: Actor and MP Innocent has demanded in the Lok Sabha that the government restrict hospitals that squeeze money out of poor patients. Many hospitals are exploiting people in the name of treatment. His Lok Sabha speech was in Malayalam.
“Voters elect candidates and send them to Parliament, expecting that they do something useful to the people. And therefore MPs job is not to peep into somebody’s kitchen to find out what food is being eaten there. Hospitals drive a hard bargain over medicine prices. They function as mere garment shops. The patients are admitted in hospitals in advance as it is for business purpose.
Hospitals are controlled by pharma companies and test labs. Hospital corporates in connivance with big pharma mafias decides on things like the number of heart operations to be done in a month, number of stents to be used and number of ultra sound scan to be done,” said Innocent who also quipped, “does anyone know the hospital price of a stent?”

Conquered cancer, says Innocent
KOCHI: Actor and MP Innocent has said that he had completely recovered from cancer. “I thank everyone who prayed for my recovery from the disease,” he said at a press conference here on Saturday.
“When cancer recurred second time, I was scared whether I would be able to come back to life or not. But I later understood that it was a wrong notion. Scanning done last time showed there was not even a percentage of cancer in my body,” the senior comedy star said with a smile.

My political career started before entering film industry, says Innocent
THRISSUR: My political career started much before I entered the film industry, said actor Innocent, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls as an independent candidate with support of LDF in Chalakudy.
Innocent said politics was not new to him as he had already tried his hand by winning a municipality election years back from his home town Irinjalakkuda.The present fight is also like that, he said at a face to face programme at the Thrissur Press Club.
I have made enough money from the film field. I’m contesting the polls not to make money. I agreed to contest the polls to work for the people. Like others, I also don’t want communal forces to assume power. The people have the ability to decide to which party they want to cast their votes.
My father was a staunch communist. There were not much communists in the Christian religion at that time.
