KANNUR: P Jayarajan gives a definite message that the party has changed its attitude in the Anthoor suicide issue. The organizational principle of the CPM cannot be confined to any single activist. What I was in the CPM earlier is what I am now. The intention of the right is to suppress me. There is no need for dissatisfaction within the party over my popularity, Jayarajan said in an interview to a weekly.
There were lapses from the side of municipality in giving sanction to the convention centre of Sajan Parayil, a NRI businessman and it should be accepted. Party is different and functioning of local bodies are different. P K Shyamala is responsible as municipality chairperson. She failed to perform her responsibilities and she should accept it, he said.
I am not a representative, but as a district secretary of the CPM, I enquired why permission was not given for the convention centre. When inquired, it was found that there was a violation of the building code. Naturally, the proposal to regularize it was put before the municipality. That is how the joint inspection was called for. Even then, the delay made him sad and so he had to take the extreme step. The party need not be dissatisfied with my involvement. As a party activist, I intervened in the affairs of the party and it is not beyond the party, he said.

Defeat was not part of anti-left wave, says Jayarajan
KANNUR: The defeat of the CPM in the Lok Sabha polls was not part of an anti-left wave, said P Jayarajan, the LDF candidate of Vadakara. The party did not get the expected votes as part of a planned effort of the Muslim League, Jamath Islami and SDPI. Modi fear was used amongst minorities, he said. Will examine each booth level to assess the reason for defeat and will take necessary steps for further activities, he said while talking to the media in Kannur.
Jayarajan said there was a delusion among Muslim minorities that it was better to vote for the Congress to prevent BJP coming to power at the centre. Some fundamentalists misinterpreted that the Congress are able to resist the BJP. The Left movements are actually leading the secular forces in Kerala. The LDF highlighted this issue during election time, he said.
There was an increase of 30,000 votes in Vadakara than the last Lok Sabha polls. This rise is certainly a reflection of the attitude of the people towards the LDF. Meantime, the votes obtained in the assembly polls was not obtained this time, he said.

Oppn was baying for my blood, says Jayarajan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition UDF was baying for my blood on the allegations of nepotism against him, said former minister E P Jayarajan. I am ready to give my blood, he made a special statement in the assembly according to rule 64 after tendering his resignation. Appointments were made in the industries department as per norms and from the panel of Restructuring and Internal Audit Board (RIAB). Though Sudheer Nambiar was appointed, he had sought more time to join. The appointment was cancelled in order to avoid disruption of administration, he said.
Public sector organizations were in a bad shape when I took over the industries department. I first tried to study about the messy industries. I took steps as there was an attempt to ruin public sector organizations.
Those who were at the helm of the industrial sector were in a situation to discontinue it. Malabar Cements is an example for it. I shifted the heads of organizations including KINFRA for their cordial relations with the mafias. This disturbed them. However, I don’t think they are behind the action against me, he said. KSIE is not a big organization, it is only a body of head load workers. Sudheer’s appointment was legal and he was appointed for three months. Appointments in public sector organizations don’t have a special panel. The government can appoint anyone. Deepthi was appointed in a leave vacancy, he said.
Jayarajan harshly criticized the media. They celebrated the appointment controversy and my resignation. The media had not made news like this even when Indira Gandhi died. They worked for the mafias to loot industries, he said.

He added that circumstances forbid being a part of the election in the Mattannur municipality.
CBI trying to cook up evidence, says Jayarajan
KANNUR: CPI (M) district secretary P Jayarajan alleged that the CBI had stooped to the level of a ‘Congress bureau' in conducting investigation in the case related to the murder of Muhammed Fazal of Thalassery. Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Jayarajan said that the CPI (M) would hold a strike in front of the CBI office in Ernakulam and speak to its higher officials on the issue. He alleged that the CBI had arrested three CPI (M) workers between March 19 and 23 and had been persuading them to provide evidence against the party leaders. This also proved that even after two years of investigation, the CBI had not received any factual evidence against the party, Jayarajan said.
While considering the application for anticipatory bail forwarded by CPI (M) district secretariat member Karayi Rajan and Thiruvangad local committee secretary Karayi Chandrashekharan, the CBI advocate had not termed them as offenders. Also, the High Court had asked the CBI to present the case diary, all of which pointed to the non-association of the party members in the murder case, he added. On the stand-off between the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the CPI (M), Jayarajan said the Congress was shielding the terrorist activities carried out by the IUML.
