THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Water charges in the state will have to be hiked, said Irrigation Minister P J Joseph.
Talking to the media, he said a review petition will be filed against the Supreme Court verdict in the Mullaperiyar issue on June 30.
Water authority expenses are increasing and not only that the present charge is of old manner. It should be renewed timely. A final decision will be taken after obtaining water authority’s recommendation, he said.

Strike staged by Kudumbashree a failure, says Minister Joseph
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The strike staged by Kudumbashree in front of the secretariat was a failure, said Minister K C Joseph. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy too had opined the same thing yesterday. Addressing a press meet here, Joseph said the government had not given any assurance to end the strike.
Joseph said that we cannot say that Kudumbashree will continue as the nodal agency of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. The LDF Government made Kudumbashree the nodal agency of the mission against norms. There is no hard and fast rule that the UDF should continue the decisions of the previous government.
