THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: V D Satheeshan alleged corruption in the assembly against the Cashew Corporation and CAPEX over the import of cashew nut. During finance request discussion, he said there is a corruption of Rs 10 crore in importing cashew nut directly.
The cashew corporation incurred a loss of Rs 6.87 crore in importing 3900 metric tonne of cashew nut. A loss of Rs 3.47 crore was incurred while importing 2000 metric tonne of cashew nut. He said those helming these two public sector organizations are tainted.
However, Minister J Mercikutty Amma denied the allegations levelled by him. He is levelling baseless allegations, she said. The government wants to open the closed public sector organizations. The managing directors were appointed after getting vigilance clearance, she said.

Land Assignment Act to help encroachers, says V D Satheesan
THRISSUR: Some differences of opinion have broken out in the congress over the Land Assignment Act in giving title deed to encroachers of government land in hilly regions of the state. The amendment is to help encroachers, said KPCC vice president V D Satheesan. Addressing a press meet here, he said the party should hold a discussion on the amendment.
The move of the government to bring law amendment is not right. Satheesan asked Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash to explain the situation to bring an amendment.
Thamarasseri Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil condemned the decision of the government. The UDF government is anti-farmer, he alleged.
Code of conduct for personal staff of ministers, says V D Satheesan
KOCHI: There should be a code of conduct for the personal staff members of ministers, said AICC secretary V D Satheesan. Talking to reporters after arriving from New Delhi, he said if it is made mandatory while appointing personal staff, then it will help to avoid controversies.
