Ragging not behind suicide pact in SAI, says report
NEW DELHI: The report of Sports Authority of India (SAI) director Sreenivas ruled out ragging in the girl athletes’ suicide pact case in Alappuzha. In the incident, one girl had died and the other three are still undergoing treatment in a hospital in the district. The report also said the girls had not suffered any mental harassment in the hostel.
Some senior students of the hostel advised the girls and informed the warden after some unpleasant deeds were noticed from the girls’ side in connection with some issues. The warden too advised them. As the girls were from financially backward communities, they feared that they may be sacked from here and this may be the reason for them to take the extreme step.

T J Jose shifted, no proof for copying, says report
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: T J Jose involved in the copying controversy has been shifted from the Thrissur range IG post. A crime branch probe has also been announced against Jose. DGP K S Balasubramanyam directed to shift him following the report of north zone ADGP N Shankar Reddy.
The report of the ADGP said that he was not found copying. As the invigilator and college librarian Binu stood firm in their stand that Jose was found copying, the report recommended a detailed investigation by the crime branch.
The incident happened on May 4. Jose was caught copying during the second year exam held at the Kalamassery St Paul’s College, off campus centre for LLM Course of the M G University. The report said the invigilator was not able to confiscate the piece of paper used by Jose. There are mistakes in his answer sheet. If he had copied from the piece of paper, then there are no chances for mistakes. The invigilator was not able to find the piece of paper when he was caught for copying.
The report of deputy registrar A C Babu handed over to exam controller mentioned that when the invigilator tried to get hold the pieces, IG T J Jose ran outside with the hall ticket and the pieces. However, Jose told ADGP that the deputy registrar has some personal enmity towards him and that is why such a report was given. With this, a crime branch probe was recommended after shifting him. The home department had suspended Jose when he was caught for copying
