MANCHERI: A legal notice was sent to playback singer Rimi Tomy. A woman identified as P Vilasini (55), wife of Sreedharan (late) of Thuvoor, served the legal notice on the singer via a counsel. The woman has sought a compensation of Rs 10 lakhs for insulting her at the venue of a ganamela programme.
The incident happened on January 12 during a programme in Nilambur. The complaint is that Rimi, the anchor of the programme insulted her after calling her to the stage. Rimi addressed the woman as Saritha Nair of Nilambur. The video clippings of the programme are being shared in social networking sites. In the notice, the woman has mentioned that the incident is disturbing her mentally. She also alleged that the gold studs offered to her have not been obtained.
Don’t want cabinet berth anymore: Ganesh
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (B) MLA K B Ganesh Kumar has said that he no more cherishes the dream of becoming a minister in the Chandy cabinet. “Even if they say they will make and give me Pulisery (a Kerala dish made using buttermilk) using gold, I will never look that side (cabinet),” he said.
Kumar said that it was he who took all efforts to build a stadium in Kollam. “But I was not invited for its inauguration. I’m not sore over that. Even Chief Minster Oommen Chandy himself has told KPCC president V M Sudheeran that those who don’t have power will have nothing,” he said, adding, Finance Minister K M Mani’s resignation is question of moral responsibility.

Oommen Chandy responsible for Pattor land deal, says Bharat Bhushan

KANNUR: CPM State committee member M V Jayarajan, who had been awarded a punishment of four weeks in jail, will surrender on Monday. The commission warrant of the Supreme Court was sent to the Kannur jail through the high court on Saturday.
After this, the police informed Jayarajan about the warrant and he returned the message that he would surrender on Monday. He is currently attending the CPM Kannur District conference.
Meanwhile, CPM plans to reap political mileage out of Jayarajan’s arrest and turn it into the party’s fight for fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian constitution. Thousands of CPM cadres will gather to see off Jayarajan to jail.
In a similar way, the party also plans to make his release from the jail a historic event. The party leaders maintain that Jayarajan had only criticised the high court order banning protests and public meeting along roadsides.

Dilip, Manju Warrier divorced
A family court in Kochi on Saturday allowed the mutual divorce plea of Dileep and Manju Warrier. Living estranged, the couple had approached the family court in Kochi in July last to end their 16 years of married life.
They moved a joint divorce petition and subsequently had undergone all mandatory proceedings before taking a final decision to pull apart for ever. On January 29, they had completed all formalities associated with their divorce petition and have been waiting for an official stamp, which came on Saturday. The court had also conducted another round of counseling for the estrange couple as a last minute effort. But, both had stuck to their earlier deliberated decision.
They have a daughter named Meenakshi. Manju Warrier had told the court that she had no objection to allow their daughter to live with Dileep. In turn, Manju would be free to meet her daughter at any time.
Dileep is one of the prominent actors in Malayalam film industry. Manju too had a strong presence before her marriage in 1998. Post-marriage, she left the tinsel world and last year, she made a comeback both in film. In her second coming to the film industry, she had also acted in a few promotional advertisements.

Lalism Band not disbanded, says Ratheesh Vega
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Mohanlal’s music band which performed at the inaugural function of the 35th national games, was not Lalism, said music director and coordinator of the troupe Ratheesh Vega. The news that the band has been disbanded is totally baseless, he said.
Ratheesh came forward with an explanation after widespread criticisms have been levelled against the programme in social networking sites.
The programme was criticized for not having a standard as that of a ganamela performed during temple festivals. The singing of Mohanlal was also criticized. Lalism was presented by Mohanlal after including the songs of noted singers of the country. The songs chosen and the presentation were both criticized.
Ratheesh said the show performed yesterday was not Lalism. It was specially organized for the national games. I don’t think there were lapses in the show. The errors in the organization and the uncontrollable crowd were unfavorable for us. Lalism will be presented by choosing the best songs.
