Wednesday, July 20, 2011: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran opined that the central home department had not given any directions to reinstate IG Tomin J Thachankary.
Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy had earlier informed that Centre had given approval for reinstating Thachankary.
Thachankary was placed under suspension for violating service rules by going abroad without consent from the previous government. The government had decided to reinstate Thachankary since his suspension term had expired and the NIA had given a clean chit to him.
Thachankary ran into trouble after the Indian Ambassador in Qatar complained of the foreign trip made by him. The Ambassador gave a formal complaint to the union Home ministry accusing Thachankary of having talks with terror groups while staying in Qatar.
Speaking to the reporters here on Wednesday, Mullappally added that all organizations with terrorist links will be thoroughly monitored based on the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.
