Contempt of court case: SC rejects Jayarajan’s plea

Friday, July 22, 2011: The Supreme Court has today rejected the plea filed by CPM leader MV Jayarajan in connection with the contempt of court case.
The Court said that it cannot stay the proceedings against him in the High Court. The Apex Court also asked him why he is not carrying on with the same fury when he unleashed the tirade against the court.

CPM leader MV Jayarajan had on June 7 filed a plea in Supreme Court demanding stay on High Court directive to file chargesheet against him in connection with the contempt of court case.
Jayarajan while speaking at a public meeting in July at Kannur criticized High Court Judges for ruling that no public meetings should be held on roads. The High Court had ordered that a charge sheet be filed against MV Jayarajan.
