Monday, July 18, 2011: The Supreme Court has today posted the hearing on the plea against Minister TM Jacob in connection with the Karappara- Kuriyarkutty scam case, for 4 weeks. The petition was filed by the previous LDF government challenging the High Court order which had acquitted the accused in the case including TM Jacob before the hearing.
In the Kuriyarkutty-Karappara case against TM Jacob, it was alleged that he conspired with contractors and awarded works of the Moolathara Right Bank canal without inviting tenders while he was the Irrigation Minister during 1991-96 period. He was acquitted by the High Court and an appeal had been pending before Supreme Court.
