Tuesday, July 19, 2011: The Ernakulam CBI Special Court on Tuesday charged cases against six accused in the sensational Kiliroor case. The cases were charged against Binu, Prashanth, Somanathan, Latha Nair, Praveen and Manoj. The hearing on the case will begin on September 13.
The CBI had earlier filed charge sheet against nine accused in the Kiliroor sex scandal case before Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The case relates to sexual exploitation of a girl named Shari from Kiliroor, near Kottayam, by the accused after offering her roles in television serials.

The accused are identified as Omanakutty (47), Praveen, 24, and Manoj, 19, both conductors attached to the Guruvayur depot of the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC); Latha Nair of Mallappalli; Binu alias Kochumon, 30, of Kottayam; Prasanth, 23, conductor at the KSRTC Guruvayur depot; Somanathan alias Soman, 46, of Kumali; Abdul Lathif alias Collector Lathif, 52, and V.K. Devadas, 47.
The charge sheet said that the investigation had revealed that Kochumon had introduced the girl to Latha Nair, who was supposed to get her a role in serials and album, in August 2003. It said the victim was taken by the accused to Palani and Guruvayur and Edappaly in Ernakulam. The charge sheet alleged that the girl was forced to consume liquor and was gang-raped.
